The past few years have been quite eventful, but we now find ourselves on a bright path filled with new possibilities. Let’s explore the exciting developments that have shaped our journey, especially since the end of COVID.
Resuming Homeschool Classes
We are ecstatic to announce that our homeschool classes are fully operational again since the end of the COVID pandemic. The relief felt by our community is substantial. Both parents and students have expressed great appreciation for the return to structured learning.
During the pandemic, many families discovered firsthand the value of in-person education. A survey conducted among our community indicates that 85% of families now prefer in-person classes over remote learning. This shift has highlighted the importance of collaboration and social engagement in our homeschooling efforts. We are grateful for the time spent together as we learn and grow.
Partnering with CHE
We are excited to share that we have joined forces with the Colorado Homeschool Enrichment Program (CHE). This partnership marks a significant milestone for our community. By working with CHE, we can continue providing our FREE homeschool STEM classes and expand our programs to include national and international STEM-related tournaments, field trips, and much more.
With access to new resources and a supportive network, we can significantly enhance our program. For example, we aim to increase our participation in competitions over the next year, giving students more chances to showcase their skills and creativity.
A Rich History
As we reflect on our journey, it’s hard to believe that we have been providing homeschool classes since 1988, totaling an astonishing 37 years. The journey began when Kathy was asked to teach an art class in Lafayette, Colorado.
Just two years later, Kathy found herself advocating for homeschooling to the Colorado legislature, fighting for its legitimacy. Her passionate testimony led to the establishment of laws that have empowered countless families to choose homeschooling. We've seen the number of homeschooling families grow by 60% in our region since those early days.
From Vision to Reality
In response to challenges faced in our early years, we made a crucial decision: we opened a licensed school. This initiative not only validated homeschooling but also offered families much-needed protection and resources. Over the decades, we have focused on supporting families in their homeschooling journey and fostering a nurturing environment for students.
Today, we continue this vital mission with renewed enthusiasm, building on the rich legacy of those who have come before us.
Enriching STEM Programs
With a growing emphasis on STEM education, our programs are more relevant than ever. Recent research shows that STEM jobs are expected to grow by 10% over the next decade. In this context, our free homeschool STEM classes are invaluable.
Thanks to our partnership with CHE, our students will soon have the chance to participate in national and international STEM contests. Picture students presenting their innovative projects on large stages, gaining confidence and experience that will benefit them in the future.
